Are Homosexuals Born That Way? 

A few are claiming that homosexuals are born in that condition and can no more correct their situation than can "the Ethiopian change his skin." This claim is misguided and wrong. The Bible condemns sexual perversion.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due (Rom. 1:26-27). 

It is possible for a person to develop a habit so ingrained that it is unlikely ever to be broken. Yet, the person was not born that way. He developed his condition and has only himself to blame. A person can become so addicted to illegal narcotics that the probability of ever getting free from the foul obsession is remote. The treachery of wrong habits is a good reason never to start on any course that is damaging or sinful. It just does not make sense to deliberately put oneself in harm's way - especially if the results have eternal effect. The New Testament says of "those who were once enlightened" and "then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame" (Heb. 6:4, 6). Their sad condition is not God's fault but is the result of their corrupt behavior. A homosexual may be so devoted to his/her vice as to be past the point of no return, but the blame belongs to the culprit and should not be placed on God. "God is light and in him is no darkness at all."

Homosexuals do change. Queer behavior has to be learned. It is not natural. Paul speaks of those who "changed the natural use of the woman." Unnatural conduct must be developed. Sexual perverts must decide to do abnormal things. Having learned to practice debased sexuality, the person can unlearn it, if the habit has not become overwhelming.

We often hear of "former" homosexuals. Some claim skills in changing the sexual degenerate back to normal conduct. There are associations dedicated to reversing homosexual behavior. Whoever heard of a "former" black or a "former" hispanic or "former", anglo? Homosexuality is not genetic but is acquired. For this reason the person guilty of such gutterish and disgusting conduct can be held fully responsible. The Bible says homosexuals will be judged and condemned for their shameful practice.

Paul says some were previously "effeminate" and "abusers of themselves with men," but, he says, "ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God" (I Cor. 6:9,1 1). They changed! They were no longer effeminate and abusers of themselves with men because such conduct is unworthy of God and the addicts of such filth "shall not inherit the kingdom of God" (I Cor. 6:10).

In a report entitled, Gender Identity Disorders and the Family, published by Family Research Council and written by George Reker, Ph.D., the case history of "Carl" is given. Carl was referred for treatment at the age of 8 years, 8 months. Since the age of four, Carl had pronounced feminine voice inflection and feminine speech content. His conversations were dominated by topics such as dresses, cosmetics, maternal roles, female impersonators, delivering babies, and female underclothing. He had several recurring exclamatory feminine-sounding remarks, such as "goodness gracious" and "oh, dear me."

His feminine gestures were exaggerations of an effeminate, swishy gait and arm movements. He preferred girls' toys, particularly dolls, and he played house with his sister frequently. Carl was ostracized by his male peers who labeled him "sissy" and "queer." He referred to himself as "fag," and he preferred to be considered a girl.

Carl's feminine behavior was increasingly leading him to social isolation, ridicule, and chronic unhappiness. His mother, who had found his feminine gestures to be amusing before he was age four, was alarmed when they persisted to the age of eight years. She strongly wanted him to have help.

Carl's doctor determined his sexual status was normal with a normal 46XY male karyotype. His gender identity was that of a girl. He had a cross-gender identity and called himself a "sissy" and a "fag."

Carl's mother increased his masculine play with males of his age and decreased his feminine gestures, feminine speech content, and predominant play with his sister. He was encouraged to associate with males who gave him a strong masculine model. After fifteen months Carl exhibited no feminine behavior. His mother, school teachers, and neighbors all agreed that he had changed in a comprehensive way from feminine-appealing to masculine boy. Six years after attempting to reform Carl into a normal boy, it was determined he had no difficulty in gender identity.

This exercise has been repeated in a large number of cases, and the outcome is similar to that of Carl. Dr. Reker wrote:

From the result of my research studies, it now appears that a preventive treatment for transvestism, transsexualism, and some form is of homosexuality had been isolated in these techniques of early identification and early intervention in the childhood years. 

It would now appear logical that homosexuality per se be re-examined as a mental disorder. 

It is possible that our society has not yet fully reaped the full consequences of widespread breakdown of family units caused by divorce. Too often divorce of the parents results in a divorce of the father from the children. If research on the effects of divorce and separation on children can be better communicated to the general population of our culture, perhaps the American public will make greater efforts to achieve stable marriage and family life and be motivated to solve marital problems rather than considering divorce as the only alternative. 

In general, the picture of the fathers of gender-disturbed children is in sharp contrast to the image of the idealized father who promotes masculinity in his sons through his psychological and physical presence, his active involvement with his children and with the family decision making, his leadership, his dominance, and his nurturance (Meed and Reker, 1979). 

Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the saviour of the body (Eph. 5:22-23). 

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy pain and thy conception; in pain thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee (Gen. 3:16). 

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God (I Cor. 11:3). 

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6:4). 

There is no sufficient and conclusive evidence that homosexuality is the result of a genetic imbalance. There are numerous cases of people who lived the life-style of a homosexual for several years and then decided to change back to conventional behavior. This ability to go from one sexual orientation to another is clear and undeniable proof that homosexuality is not some monster thing that leaves the victim without choice.

The United States Congress has pending legislation that would offer homosexuals all the protection of the 1964 Civil Rights Bill. Lift your voice in protest. Many schools are attempting to brainwash our children. Be aware of what is happening in the schools and work at keeping the slime out of the classroom.

The San Francisco Bay Area Network of Gay and Lesbian Educators distributed through the National Education Association recommendations for addressing the concerns of male and female homosexuals. Some of the recommendations were as follows:

Encouragement of teacher utilization of gay and lesbian people, or parents of gays and lesbians as speakers in classes as part of their material on the diversity of sexual orientation. 

Be supportive of the presence of openly lesbian, gay, and bisexual staff at all levels. 

Do not make any assumptions regarding the sexual orientation of students, clients, parents, or colleagues. Use non-gender specific language whenever possible (e.g. partner, lover, person). 

Inclusion of information, discussion, and recognition of gay and lesbian issues (heterosexism, homophobia, homosexuality) into curriculum, lesson plans/syllabus, and course work in various disciplines at various grade levels. 

Include readings which address lesbian and gay issues on required and recommended reading lists. 

With your students, discover and plan ways to participate in local and national gay pride month/week activities as a way to celebrate, learn about, and better understand lesbian, gay, and bisexual culture. 

Familiarize yourself with local gay and lesbian resources (social/political organizations, health care agencies, counseling services, clubs, youth groups, readings, and file materials) and use them in your class. 

Requirement of comprehensive human relations/sex education instruction within the health curriculum framework which include information of the diversity of sexual orientation. 

Inclusion of age-appropriate, gay-sensitive literature in school libraries and have them accessible to students. 

• Getting all children into the public schools by the age of three and making kindergarten compulsory for all children.
• Subjecting all public school students to psychiatric experimentation.
• Sexuality classes for all grades and the distribution of contraceptives to minors without parental knowledge or consent.
• Opposition to home schooling, parental choice in education, tuition tax credits, vouchers, and any parental supervision of the schools.
• Taxpayer-funded abortion on demand throughout nine months of pregnancy.
• Homosexuals teaching in the classroom even if they have AIDS, and counseling of students by homosexuals.
• Allowing the homosexual caucus to distribute its propaganda to the convention attendees.
